This was the scene greeting golfers at the sixth hole in Pike Hills Golf Club on Wednesday.
A tree was destroyed by powerful Gale force winds as Storm Aileen swept across North Yorkshire in the early hours of Wednesday.
Golfer Ian Smith found the damaged tree at 8am after making his way round the course for a competition at the club, which can be found off the A64 near Copmanthorpe.
He said: "We came across it around 8am having teed off in today's competition at 7am this morning.
"It's a large substantial tree but hadn't fallen in the way."
