A MAN was incapacitated by police and arrested after a car crashed into four stationary vehicles, including a police car.

A black Seat was travelling on the A61 Harrogate Road at Harewood Bridge, near Bridge Court, at about 5.50pm on Tuesday towards Leeds when it hit with a blue Toyota, a black Hyundai i20, and a black Range Rover Sport that were queuing in traffic, and a white police BMW X5.

The officers smashed the driver’s window and used PAVA spray to detain the suspect - and a 41-year-old Bradford man who was arrested.

He will appear in Harrogate Magistrates' Court on Thursday charged with dangerous driving, driving without insurance, driving without a licence, failing to stop and possession of cannabis.

A 16-year-old girl, who was a passenger in the Seat, is receiving treatment at Leeds General Infirmary for a back injury that is not believed to be serious.

Anyone who saw the incident or has information which could help police should phone 101, select option two, and ask for the Harrogate Investigation Hub.

Alternatively, phone Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111 quoting reference 12170163803.
