A son who defrauded his dying 82-year-old mother out of £21,500 only has assets worth £650, York Crown Court heard.
Stephen Kevin Robins, 40, of Kitchener Street, Selby, was given a 12-month prison sentence in February this year after admitting fraud by abuse of power of attorney.
Following his release on parole, he returned to York Crown Court for an assets confiscation hearing.
After reading a financial investigation report, Judge Paul Worsley QC declared he had benefited by £21,459 through his crime, and ordered him to pay £650, the worth of his only asset, a Clio car, in two months, or be returned to jail.
