A CONCERT is being held to raise funds for Sophie’s Trust Fund.
Dr Sophie Williams, whose father, Mike, is the owner of Castlegate News, in Malton, fell critically ill after she was infected with a Japanese encephalitis in south-east China in July 2015.
The virus paralysed Sophie, 32, who still requires a ventilator, and she was recently transferred from Ysbyty Gwynedd, in Bangor, Wales, to a rehabilitation centre in Bury.
Sophie is likely to always need 24-hour care and the aim was to raise about £60,000 to adapt the home she shared with her partner Dr Robert Annewandter in Sling, near Bang
The music concert is at Malton Salvation Army, Wood Street, Norton, on Saturday, September 30, at 6pm.
Tickets are £5 per person and £10 for a family ticket. Food and refreshments will be served.
For more information, phone Majors Matthew and Debbie Bennett on 01653 693344.
Mike Williams is taking part in a sponsored climb of Mount Snowdon and hosting a quiz at Malton School on Friday, at 7.30pm.
To take part, phone 01944 758200. To sponsor Mike, go to Castlegate News, and the Gazette & Herald office, in Malton, or Rillington Post Office.
