A MAN has been taken to hospital after an alleged assault.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which left a 51-year-old man with serious head injuries.
The altercation occurred between two men at the Windmill Inn, Stainsacre Lane in Whitby at around 8pm, Friday September 8.
It resulted in the victim sustaining serious head injuries.
He was taken by ambulance to James Cook Hospital.
A 48-year-old man from Whitby has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and has been released on conditional bail.
Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them, so they can establish the full circumstances around the incident.
