THE York 50+ Festival will run from September 30 until October 8 and will be packed with 144 events.

This year the new organising committee builds on the lasting legacy of opening opportunities for the over-50s.

They can try out hobbies or sports, learn skills, meet people and engage in social activities.

Themes include performance, health and wellbeing, workshops, displays, open days, sport and active leisure, talks and history walks and socials and advice sessions.

In addition to the festival events each year, the York Older People’s Assembly organises a 50+ information fair as part of the festival where representatives from a wide range of organisations offer guidance on their products and services and how to access them.

It’s an opportunity to access a wide range of advice in four venues – drop in and chat to friendly people who are there to help and provide advice about present and future issues or concerns.

The information fair will be held on Tuesday, September 12 from 10am until 3pm with stands at West Offices, York Explore Library, Spurriergate Centre and St Sampson's Centre
