I WRITE following the letter from Christian Vassie (The Press, September 5) re our debt to the EU.
Of course the Vassie family on their Friday big shop arrive at the checkout, he hands over his wallet to the checkout operator, allows them to take the money, and decides not to check the receipt or indeed their change.
I do not believe Mr Vassie would take everything on trust in this way. So why should we trust the EU?
Therefore David Davis has said clearly on a number of occasions we will honour our commitment and pay the bill, but unlike the Friday big shop, we will be checking every detail.
This is what frightens the EU bureaucrats, so it’s time we started putting the pressure on, justify the costs and make sure it’s legal and will stand close inspection and be subject to due diligence checks.
This, of course, flies in the face of EU practice as they have the ability to chuck our money around like people with no arms.
Remember D Davis esquire is a Yorkshireman. Short arms, long pockets.
