SO Christian Vassie thinks we are in a mess following the Brexit vote (The Press, August 29).
Which mess is this? As far as I am concerned things are little different to before the Brexit vote.
Admittedly, I don’t go abroad for my holidays these days, therefore the lower exchange rate against the Euro hasn’t affected me.
But a few years ago when I was out in Tenerife the rate was 98 cents to the pound. In the Irish bar a pint of black and tan was four euros, almost £4. That was long before Brexit was even thought about.
The people who seem to be in a mess are the politicians on both sides of the English Channel.
The lower exchange rate has helped tourism and exports.
I would remind Christian Vassie that it is not that long ago that the irresponsible EU were lending bankrupt Greece billions of euros to get themselves out of debt.
That is like giving someone who is dependent on alcohol more whisky to cure their problem.
