A YORK community foundation which handed grants to hundreds of victims of the 2015 floods has itself been awarded a £100,000 grant.
The money has been given by Goldsmiths’ Company Charity to Two Ridings Community Foundation, which says it will use it to encourage more local giving through donors setting up funds for good causes.
Chief executive Jan Garrill said: “This is a major boost to Two Ridings Community Foundation and we are confident that with Goldsmiths’ support we can do even more to promote the positive benefits of local philanthropy.
“It’s a great way for successful individuals, families and businesses to support the hundreds of great local charities and groups in our region.”
Ciorsdan Brown, of Goldsmiths’ Company Charity, said it had wanted to support a community foundation which had proved itself in addressing increased local need at a difficult time.
“Two Ridings Community Foundation impressed us with their in depth knowledge of the local area and professional approach to both fundraising and grant making, having successfully managed flood funds.”
