PENSIONER Dave Huffen picked up his gardening shears and sculpted his holly bush to bring cheer to motorists stuck in traffic in Strensall Road, Earswick.
“The drivers all look so miserable that I wanted to put a smile on their faces,” he said.
“I intended it to be a dragon, but everyone tells me it looks like a caterpillar, so that’s what it is,” said the keen topiarist.
This is not the first time that Mr Huffen’s hedge-cutting has cheered up his neighbourhood.
In 2013 he trimmed the bush in the shape of the muppet character Ernie from Sesame Street and earned praise from people passing his drive.
