A MAN has been fined £500 after pleading guilty to possessing crack cocaine, heroin and cannabis, criminal damage and assaulting a police officer in Scarborough.

Riccardo Nathaniel Donalds, 29, of Creed Way, West Bromwich, was caught despite trying to evade capture by smashing a window and fleeing from a flat in Westbourne Grove.

North Yorkshire Police said he was caught at the rear of the home and arrested after a fight with an officer.

He was ordered to undertake a rehabilitation order and carry out 200 hours of unpaid work by Scarborough Magistrates Court, and will pay compensation to the officer he assaulted.

Huw David Owen, 33, from Westbourne Grove, Scarborough, was also arrested in connection with the case and charged with possession of a crack cocaine. He pleaded guilty and received a £250 fine and was ordered to pay costs of £85 and £30 victim surcharge.

Det Con David Adams said: “Donalds’ behaviour was completely unacceptable and affected the lives of the residents at Westbourne Grove.

“I commend this officer for his bravery and courage when facing a violent man like Donalds.”
