YORK Theatre Royal takes a step back into 1920s and 1930s' New York City and through the doors of Harlem’s hottest nightclub, The Cotton Club, on September 12.
The Lindy Hop Dance Company and The Harry Strutters Hot Rhythm Orchestra combine to present Swinging At The Cotton Club, a celebration of the exhilarating music and dance of New York’s most celebrated nightclub of the Twenties and Thirties, when Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Cab Calloway, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, and Fats Waller would have had the joint swinging, while dancers such as Bojangles Robinson and the Nicholas Brothers lit up the stage with their breathtaking routines.
American vocalist Marlene Hill and compere/vocalist Megs Etherington also feature in next month's 7.30pm show; tickets are on sale on 01904 623568 or at yorktheatreroyal.co.uk
