DANCING On Ice champion of champions Ray Quinn and celebrated Welsh actress Ruth Madoc are in the cast for The Wedding Singer, on tour at Leeds Grand Theatre from Tuesday to Saturday.

Based on the 1998 Adam Sandler film, written by Tim Herlihy, this Tony Award-nominated musical is set in 1985 and tells the story of big-haired rock-star wannabe Robbie Hart, New Jersey's favourite wedding singer, played by West End musical theatre star Jon Robyns.

When Robbie’s fiancée dumps him at the altar, he sets out to make every wedding day as disastrous as his own, until he meets sweet-natured Julia and her best friend Holly, who make it their mission to lure Robbie out of the dumpster and back into the limelight. Will they succeed? Will Robbie see Julia head down the aisle with Wall Street bad boy Glen (Quinn's role). Or will Grandma Rosie (Madoc) convince Robbie and Julia that they are the perfect couple?

Directed and choreographed by Nick Winston, the new production also features West End actress and The X Factor finalist Cassie Compton as Julia and West End performer Stephanie Clift as Holly.

Based on the book by Chad Beguelin and Matthew Sklar, The Wedding Singer's 2017 tour show has music by Matthew Sklar; set and costumes by Francis O’Connor; musical supervision by Sarah Travis and musical direction and orchestration by George Dyer. Lighting design is by Ben Cracknell, sound design by Richard Brooker and video design by Jack Henry James.

Tickets cost £19.50 to £38 at leedsgrandtheatre.com or on 0844 848 2700.
