AN ATTRACTION in York has celebrated York’s unique chocolate heritage by building a contemporary take on an iconic Terry's vehicle, ahead of Micklegate’s soapbox race.
This year marks the 250th anniversary of Terry’s confectionery.
To commemorate this milestone, York’s Chocolate Story, in Kings Square, has built a soapbox car inspired by a classic Terry’s advertising vehicle. Taking the original design, the company added some of their own twists and flourishes.
The car has not just been built for show, it will be raced in the 2nd Autohorn Micklegate Run Soapbox Challenge.
York's Chocolate Story is entering the race to raise money for Make-A-Wish UK, a charity that the attraction are supporting throughout 2017.
Team member Heidi Davies (pictured) said: "We’re so happy with the final design. It’s quirky, different and very York.
"Make-A-Wish is an incredible charity, so we really wanted to do the best job we could. The more money people donate, the more chocolate we will throw into the crowd on the day."
