COULD you help tell the public about a piece of York history?
Enthusiastic volunteers are wanted to help out at Fairfax House in Castlegate, which is currently displaying Grinling Gibbons’ King David panel - a rare piece of Gibbons' early work which the House has been campaigning to save for the city.
Hannah Phillip, director of Fairfax House, said there were currently about 140 people volunteering for the attraction, but they would always welcome more.
She said: "We want somebody who loves working with and meeting people, chatting and talking, learning and anyone who really loves heritage.
"We're always looking for volunteers and will be running more courses and having more inductions. There's no better time than now to be a part of something really special when we have this really amazing piece of York history on site, so anybody who loves lives in York and has an interest in heritage will be absolutely blown away by being involved with this."
