FAMILIES are being invited to get creative and take part in craft activities at York Minster this summer.

Each Wednesday during August families can enjoy hands-on animal craft activities that celebrate the theme of Noah’s Ark.

In addition, there will be special storytelling sessions and family-friendly tours of the cathedral on the same days.

The craft activities will take place in the cathedral’s 13th century Chapter House and participants can drop in anytime between 10am and 3pm. Last week, the activity was sculpting a clay grotesque. Today, it is making a butterfly mobile. Meanwhile, families can explore the Minster every day of the holidays. The Revealing York Minster in the Undercroft attraction offers young adventurers the chance to discover 2,000 years of history through a labyrinth of interactive chambers beneath the Minster. They can follow in the footsteps of Roman soldiers or see the 1,000-year-old Horn of Ulf gifted by a Viking lord. Youngsters can also follow Monty the Monkey’s discovery trails to find things to see, hear, and touch around the Minster, including hunting dragons.
