THE rainfall which has been soaking York and North Yorkshire today could get even heavier tonight, before clearing away tomorrow morning.
The Met Office is forecasting persistent rain this afternoon, with some locally heavy bursts and a north-easterly breeze making it feel cool.
Temperatures had only risen to a maximum of 14C by 2pm at RAF Linton on Ouse, which contrasted sharply with 39C at the same time in Malaga on Spain's southern coast.
Some very heavy bursts of rain are possible tonight, particularly to the south and east of York but tomorrow is looking much better.
The rain will ease through the morning with sunny spells developing later, although temperatures will still only reach a maximum of about 17C, with a strong northerly breeze down the Yorkshire coast.
