TRAVELLERS who have settled in a York Park & Ride car park have been told to leave within days.
City of York Council’s head of community safety, Jane Mowat, said officials visited the encampment at the Rawcliffe Park & Ride site this morning.
She said they explained that the authority was issuing a notice for the travellers to leave the car park, situated just off the A19 on York's western outskirts, by Monday.
“Meanwhile, the Park & Ride is open and will remain open, as it has sufficient capacity,” she said.
A local resident contacted The Press to say that about a dozen caravans and some had been parked across parking bays, and washing lines placed across others.
He said he had seen them when he went to walk his dog this morning, and they had not been there at 10 am yesterday.
