A TEENAGE contestant from Britain's Got Talent will perform in York next week.

Beau Dermott is just 13 years old, and has not only signed a major record deal with Decca Records for her first album, but has insured her voice with Lloyd's of London for £1m.

Beau will be busking at York train station on Monday, August 7, from 3pm, ahead of the September release of her debut album Brave.

The Liverpudlian teenager shot to fame following an audition on Britain’s Got Talent which saw judge Amanda Holden become her mentor and take her straight into the live finals. The YouTube clip of Beau's performance of Defying Gravity from the musical Wicked, has been viewed 25 million times.

Beau, who has also performed in front of Dame Vera Lynn and Queen Elizabeth II, is also organising a charity concert in aid of Cancer Research UK at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall on October 12, following her father’s own diagnosis.

Tom Lewis, director of A&R at Decca, said: "Having such an incredible talent at such a young age is truly remarkable, and we’re looking forward to working with Beau as she develops into a young star."

Beau said she was delighted to have recorded her first album, saying "it’s like a dream come true".
