A DEVOLUTION summit in York saw "positive discussions" over the future of Yorkshire, the city's council leader has said.

A meeting at City of York Council HQ this afternoon involved most Yorkshire councils - including York and North and East Yorkshire.

York leader Cllr David Carr was tight-lipped about developments, saying discussions had been positive and a joint statement would be issued next week.

The meeting was reportedly held to discuss two different options drawn up for Yorkshire devolution - one involving an elected mayor and one a cabinet of council leaders.

The Yorkshire devolution process has been stalled for months, with the only deal signed one that involved Sheffield and South Yorkshire - which is itself now delayed.
