CITIZENS Advice York (CAY) is inviting York residents to the latest in a series of meetings for people hit by the 2015 floods.

The informal drop-in session is being held at the Quaker Meeting House on Friargate, on and Wednesday, August 2 from 6pm to 7.30pm, and people can drop in for a short time.

People will have chance to share their experiences, and find out about the support still available.

CAY is still offering advice to residents affected by the floods. Directly after the floods people were focused on resolving housing and debt issues but now time has passed, CAY advisors say they are being asked to help with counselling and support services.

CAY advisor Kate Cassidy said: "This meeting is aimed at addressing the issues faced by residents affected by the floods. We are working in partnership with a wide range of specialist agencies based within the community, who can help residents to build resilience and promote recovery after the floods."

Yorkshire Water, City of York Council emergency planning team, York CVS, the Healing Clinic, St Nicks, York Archaeological Trust, Trading Standards, Age UK, Mind and Mainstay mental health services are all contributing to the meetings.

CAY can help with advice on managing benefit and debt, managing insurance claims, reporting rogue traders, help to complete resilience grant applications and help to access counselling and mental health services.

They are also working with the Two Ridings Community Foundation to help people who have not been able to move back into their homes, or who have been left with huge debts.
