GET your flat caps at the ready for an afternoon of traditional Yorkshire fun.
Norton Town Council has organised a Yorkshire Day event to celebrate with the local community, charities and churches.
The celebration will be held on Sunday, at St Peters Church house and grounds, from 1.30pm to 5pm.
It will involve Yorkshire themed games, including flat cap throwing and horseshoe throwing, with great prizes, lots of stalls, more outdoor games, bouncy castle, barbecue, ice cream, refreshments and a live band.
Councillor Ray King, mayor of Norton, said: “We had a great day last year and this year’s event will be even bigger and better.
“The whole concept is to celebrate our Yorkshire culture, albeit a couple of days early, and create a true community feel while bringing our local charities, organisations and groups together.
“There is something for everyone so please come along and enjoy the fun and games.
“Why not join in the spirit of the afternoon and wear your own flat cap?”
Meanwhile, Thomas the Baker stores across the region will be rising to the occasion by selling special cupcakes.
For every cupcake sold a 50p donation will be made to the bakery chain’s chosen charity – the Alzheimer’s Society.
John Thomas, founder of Thomas the Baker, said: “As a Yorkshire company through and through it seems only right to mark the day with something special.”
