THE chief executive of Ryedale District Council has offered her resignation.

Janet Waggott will leave the council on September 15 and start her new position as chief executive of Selby District Council and assistant chief executive of North Yorkshire County Council on September 18.

It was announced in May that Ms Waggott, who has led the council’s executive for more than 10 years, was leaving the authority.

Ms Waggott said: “It is with some sadness that I am leaving Ryedale District Council after more than 10 years. The council has achieved a lot in that time and I am sure will continue to do so. Ryedale has a number of very capable, enthusiastic and committed people who work incredibly hard to do what matters for our district. I am excited about the opportunity that the role of chief executive of Selby District Council and assistant chief executive of North Yorkshire County Council have to offer."

“I am really pleased that I am staying in North Yorkshire and that I will be able to continue the work I have done on behalf of the districts of the county over the years.”
