HELEN MEAD writes about the amount of litter in our towns and countryside and points out that in other countries the problem of littering isn’t as bad (The Press, July 27).
This is down to our attitude in the country as when people see a problem their first reaction is to ask the question: “Why isn’t anyone doing anything about it?”
The attitude needs to be “see a problem, organise and try to solve it”.
There are hundreds of local community groups who organise litter picks around the country who are crying out for volunteers, so wherever you live you can make a difference.
If people can’t find something local they can be involved with then maybe they can start up a group themselves and be the person “doing something about it”.
