AVIVA workers took over a premises this week in a charity shop challenge and raised around £300.
Last year the insurance firm staff stepped in for a day at the Red Cross shop in Walmgate to offer support after it was hit by floods.
This week, as part of the charity challenge, a team of seven from Aviva laid on a Mad Hatter's Tea Party complete with jam tarts, iced tea and a tombola and raffle.
Shop manager Marge Locker said: "They were a great help, leafleting in town and bringing stock with them. They ran the party and worked on the till and steamed clothes. They were great."
The Red Cross shop was hit in the 2015 Boxing Day floods, and finally reopened in late June last year.
