MAINTAINING a building like York Minster is a never-ending task. For 50 years, the York Glaziers Trust has done a magnificent job of looking after the cathedral’s glorious stained glass. Yet now the Dean of York, Vivienne Faull, admits moisture is damaging the windows faster than they can be conserved.
Fortunately, there’s a solution - protecting the windows with special glazing. Some of the Minster’s 128 windows already have such protection. But 74 of them don’t. So the Minster has teamed up with the Glaziers’ Trust to mount a fundraising campaign to ensure these windows, too, can be protected.
We wish the campaign the best of luck. These windows are far too precious to lose.
