Crews tackle two fires in the open
TWO fires in the open were put out by crews last night.
Firefighters were called to Shipton Road, Rawcliffe, at about 7.50pm to tackle a fire to a discarded mattress and pallets.
They used one hose reel jet to extinguish the flames.
A Tadcaster crew was called to the B1217 near Towton at about 10.20pm to put out a large fire.
"This appeared to be controlled burning, left unattended" a spokesman for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said.
One jet was used, as well as small tools and lighting.
