A FUNDRAISING day has been held in memory of a York boy who died in his sleep.

As previously reported by The Press, Kenzie Hall was three years old when he died on November 19 last year. The nursery pupil at Haxby Road Primary Academy fell asleep but never woke up.

On Saturday, scores of people attended a fun day and evening in his memory at York Hospital Sports and Social Club off Haxby Road, to help raise money for a memorial garden to be created in Kenzie’s memory.

Lyndsey Relf was one of the organisers of the event, along with Kellie Kelly and Gregg Kelly, and said she was pleased to see so many people turn up despite early showers.

She said: "We raised £640.82, which is what we need and extra so that will go towards Kenzie's headstone.

"It was fantastic, everybody was laughing constantly and playing the party games, even the bar staff joined in."
