A MAN has appeared in court charged with the sexual assault of a woman in York.
Mohammad Hussein Abdulyazed Ali was arrested in the early hours of Thursday in connection with the incident which took place in the Riverside Walk area of York, close to the Park Inn, at about 12.30am on Saturday, July 7.
Ali appeared this morning at York and Selby Magistrates' Court, and gave his address as Neville Street, York.
He was charged with sexually touching a woman over the age of 16 without consent.
The charge was relayed to him through an interpreter, and Ali spoke only to confirm his name. No plea was entered.
Magistrates remanded Ali in custody until his next appearance at York Crown Court next month.
