FINAL tidying up work will start around the repaired Tadcaster Bridge from Monday, July 24.

Stone left under the bridge after its collapse in the December 2015 floods will be moved to create a smoother and shallower river bed, and all of the stone in the river and the riverbanks re-used.

The county council said the work will take five days to complete, depending on the weather and the river level, but there should be no impact on pedestrians or traffic as all works are under the bridge.

The only remaining work will then be the installation of streetlights. The county council confirmed it has planning permission, and has ordered the columns.
