A MAN has been arrested in connection with two sex attacks in York.

North Yorkshire Police launched a manhunt following two attacks in the early hours of Thursday and Saturday last week.

The first attack happened when a woman was sexually assaulted after leaving a city centre nightclub in the early hours of Thursday, July 13.

Police said they could not confirm the exact location of the attack.  

The second incident involved a woman being sexually assaulted as she walked along the riverside path between Bridge Street and the Park Inn between 12.30am to 12.45am on Saturday, July 15.

A spokesman said today a 32-year-old man was arrested in York in the early hours of Thursday and is currently in custody.

Police this week appealed to late-night revellers and bar and club staff who may have been leaving work at the time and who saw anything suspicious to contact them.
