MANY congratulations to Acomb residents on their highly successful monthly market.
What a pity that we do not have a similar commodity in town.
We also used to have a thriving, bustling market and a fantastic monthly farmers’ market.
Nowadays, the number of stalls gets fewer and fewer with a lot of these selling items which are aimed more towards visitors than residents.
Rising stall rentals and an increasing unwillingness to listen to stallholders’ problems or suggestions has led to many just giving up and going elsewhere.
I can see the day coming when the few remaining stalwarts will also give up in disgust.
Then the multi-million pound makeover will have been for nothing.
