FESTIVAL flowers greeted visitors to St Stephen's Chuch in Acomb at the weekend when the doors opened to the community.
The colouful displays were created by the Acomb Flower Guild in a joint initiative with the parish.
Vicar the Rev Pete Vivash said: "We teamed up with the guild flower arrangers and other local organisations to offer another attraction as part of the ADAM community festival and to focus on the church's role in the community.
"Acomb Flower Guild created beautiful arrangements to be admired."
Children's groups in Acomb and from the church and local residents created a community mural featuring a sailing ship.
And there were sweet rewards as prizes for a nature trail quiz around the churchyard.
