ANOTHER day of warm sunshine in York and North Yorkshire today is set to be followed tomorrow by thundery and heavy rain, with a risk of severe thunderstorm.
Temperatures are forecast to reach 24C in York today under hazy skies, but the Met Office has issued a 'yellow' warning of scattered thunderstorms with locally intense downpours in the early hours of tomorrow morning.
The storms may ease from the south later in the night but further, possibly severe, thunderstorms may break out again tomorrow afternoon with large hailstones.
Forecasters say many places will miss the storms but there is a chance of some localised flooding of homes, businesses and roads. Power networks may also be disrupted by frequent lightning.
