EXPLORE York Libraries and Archives is launching a Books on Prescription service to support people living with long term health conditions.

The libraries working with the Reading Agency to hold collections of books selected by experts and health care professionals that can be borrowed and signpost customers to local health care servies.

There are four collections: self help for mental health, for people affected by demenia and carers, young people aged 13-18 experiencing anxiety stress and bullying, and people affected by long term health conditions.

The collections will be launched at a public event at York Explore at 10.30am on Friday, July 28.

There will be a market place open until 4pm where health care and support organisations in York will showcase services. plus a chance to view books in the collections.

There will be an opportunity to have your say about health services too with Healthwatch York and the NHS Vale of York CCG.
