A CONVICTED killer was found dead at his lodgings in York, police have said.
Jamie Keith Richardson, 36, was jailed for four years in 1999 after he was convicted of manslaughter.
He had killed a patient by kicking him repeatedly in a hospital’s grounds after a day-long drinking binge.
He also had convictions for assault, and went before magistrates in York in 2014 after jumping into the River Ouse while drunk and disorderly.
Richardson had jumped into the river from King’s Staith, then climbed out and jumped in from Ouse Bridge.
A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Police said officers were called to the Arclight Centre in Union Terrace, York, at about 10am on Thursday, April 13.
Mr Richardson’s body was found in his room.
There were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death, the spokeswoman said.
Yesterday, an inquest into Mr Richardson’s death was opened at New Earswick Friends Meeting House by assistant coroner Jon Heath.
The inquest was adjourned, and will resume at a later date.
