CAMERA retailer Jessops is returning to York's high street for the first time in four years.
The national brand closed its store in Spurriergate in January 2013 after the brand fell into administration owing £81 million.
Around 2,000 jobs were lost nationally when administrators closed its 187 stores, with19 redundancies in York.
Tomorrow Jessops is returning to York with the opening of a new shop in Coney Street.
The new York branch will be the 58th for Jessops since it was bought out of administration by Dragons Den tycoon Peter Jones, who paid almost £2 million for the assets, and has been gradually growing the high street presence.
Prior to Spurriergate, York's former Jessops was located in the White Swan Hotel building in Piccadilly.
The city also had Jessops branches in Parliament Street and Monks Cross, and despite all three surviving store cuts in 2007, they later closed.
