A MAN who assaulted a deaf woman in her bathroom has been fined and told to stay away from her.
Michael Borg, 42, had been drinking when he forced his way through the locked bathroom door, breaking its frame and lock and grabbed his now ex-partner, said Joe Culley, prosecuting. She was having a bath at the time and suffered a minor injury.
For Borg, Craig Robertson said although he had been drinking, he wasn’t “in drink”. He had wanted to use the toilet and had grabbed the woman in play as she was about to get into the bath. He was remorseful for his actions. Borg, of Guardian Court, Water Lane, Clifton, pleaded guilty to assault and criminal damage. He was fined £120 at York Magistrates’ Court and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £30 statutory surcharge. He was also given a two-year restraining order banning him from contacting the woman.
