THE ten-year restoration and York Minster’s Great East Window and its history will be the subject of a talk by the director of York Glaziers Trust, Sarah Brown.
Her trust is currently completing the restoration which included removing all 311 stained glass panels from the window, the largest expanse of mediaeval stained glass in the country.
The project started in 2008 and is expected to finish next year.
She will give an illustrated lecture at Markenfield Hall near Ripon on Friday July 14 called “Looking for John Thornton, author of York Minster’s Mediaeval Masterpiece”.
The evening starts with drinks at 7pm.
