THE dog, Elsie, found abandoned on the A64 reminds me of a similar experience that happened to my late husband around 10 or 12 years ago.
On his way to Tadcaster he saw a little grey long-haired dog frantically running along the A64. It had obviously been thrown out of a car.
On his way back around half an hour later, the dog had somehow crossed over the road and been missed by the traffic.
He stopped and picked her up. He took her to some dog loving friends of ours at Heslington where, despite becoming diabetic, she spent many happy years, only recently dying.
They called her Lucky. How Lucky was she?
(We already had three dogs at the time).
