THE OLDEST pupils at St Lawrence's C of E Primary School in Heslington Road in Year 6 welcomed the younger Key Stage 1 children and the Year 6 from Heworth Primary School to the school's first reading festival.
The Year 6 host pupils offered a range of exciting stalls, including Hook a Book, making bookmarks, solving riddles and relaxing in the reading café.
Their teacher Amy Richardson, said: "It was fantastic to see the Year 6 children at their very best and the younger children enjoying books and reading.
"Making reading fun inspires the younger children to engage.
"We are now looking forward to the Key Stage 2 Reading Festival on Monday, July 17 and involve older readers."
St Lawrence's and Heworth Primary are both part of the Pathfinder Multi Academy Trust.
