PLANS for a new care home on the site of a former York school went on show this week.

Care home companies Ashley House and HC-One have won a bid to build and run a new home at Burnholme health and wellbeing hub, where Burnholme Community College used to stand.

They have plans for an 80 bed home designed by architects Penoyre and Prasad, with lounges and dining rooms, a residents’ coffee shop, bar, library, gym, arts and crafts room, and cinema.

The plans went on show in the Burnholme gymnasium on Thursday afternoon, when people nearby were invited to meet the care home team and see the proposals, and give any feedback before the formal planning application is submitted.

Earlier in June work started on the rest of the site, where the council is creating a hall, library, cafe, nursery, meeting spaces and recording studios for Tang Hall SMART.
