RENOWNED crime writer Stephen Booth will be in York for a talk about his work and to sign books, at an event later this month.

Author of the Cooper and Fry novels set in the Peak District, Stephen will be at Haxby Memorial Hall on Monday, July 24 at 7.30pm, and will talk about the inspiration for his works and sign copies of his latest novel.

That event will be followed on Monday, September 4 at 7.30pm with a talk from two forensic experts who have worked in digital, DNA and biological forensics for many years. Then on Sunday, October 15, from 2pm, writer Francis Brody - the creator of the Kate Shackleton character set in 1920s Yorkshire - will be signing her soon-to-be-released novel.

Tickets cost £5 on the door or via haxbymemorialhall.co.uk.

Proceeds go towards the £550,000 the Memorial Hall trustees have to raise to help fund an overhaul and extension, so the hall can become the new home of Haxby and Wigginton Library.
