A MAN remains in police custody after a man was allegedly stabbed in the street.
Armed police were called to Margaret Street, off Walmgate, York, at 2.40pm on Wednesday after they received reports of a violent disturbance and arrested a man in his 30s.
Officers guarded a crime scene at the Yacro building in Walmgate and a cordon was put in place around the entrance.
A man was arrested at a property on Hope Street and is being held in custody for questioning.
Lily Pearson, a member of staff at Keal Teamwear, in Walmgate, said: "I saw about five people stood in the street and a police van pulled up outside the One Stop shop and police ran across the street.
"There was a lot of shouting."
Witnesses or anyone with information that could assist the investigation, are urged to call North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 1, and speak to the Force Control Room.
