A 24-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with trying to steal a bike and going equipped to steal, after he was spotted on CCTV on St Andrewsgate in York.
Police were contacted on Monday, June 26 at around 7.50pm to a report of a man with wire cutters, who had been seen trying to cut through a bike lock. Officers found a man matching the suspect’s description, still attempting to cut the bike free from its lock. He was arrested on suspicion of theft and was found to be in possession of a set of wire cutters.
He was charged with attempted theft of a pedal cycle and going equipped for theft, and is due to in court on July 13.
