THOMAS the Baker shops are selling special forget-me-not cupcakes in aid of Alzheimer’s Society this month.

The company is supporting Alzheimer’s Society, as their charity of the year for 2017/18. As well as selling cupcakes, staff are collecting for Alzheimer’s Society year-round, and members of staff will be taking part in other events such as their local Memory Walk.

The cupcakes are £1.50 with 50p from each sold going directly to Alzheimer’s Society.

Throughout the year, Thomas the Baker is hoping to raise more than £10,000 to support Alzheimer’s Society’s work funding research, providing support and information for people affected by dementia, and campaigning for a more dementia friendly society.

Simon Thomas, general manager and director at Thomas the Baker, said: “We are thrilled to be supporting Alzheimer’s Society this year.

“So many of our staff and customers have a connection to dementia and we know that the work of Alzheimer’s Society makes a real difference, not just to those living with dementia, but their families and carers, too.”

“It’s great to think that by doing what we do best – baking – we will be raising funds to help support people living with dementia now and to fund research to one day find a cure for dementia.”

Hannah Riley, Alzheimer’s Society community fundraiser, said: “Thomas the Baker’s team is doing its bit to raise funds and to help us raise awareness of dementia by selling these special forget-me-not cupcakes.

“Dementia devastates lives, but it won’t win.

“Until the day we find a cure we will be here for anyone affected by dementia, where they are, whatever they’re going through.

“We need more local businesses to join us now and unite against dementia.”
