STAFF from a York jewellery shop shrugged off their fear of heights to complete a tandem skydive for a children's cancer charity.
Rebecca Andrews, store manager of Ernest Jones, in Coney Street, and three colleagues – Shauna Riley, Eliza Durkin and Georgia Precious – plunged 10,000ft feet from a plane in Durham in aid of CLIC Sargent, a cancer charity for children and young people, and their families.
Altogether, they raised £2,100 for the charity.
Rebecca said; "Although petrified and all a bit queasy after we very much enjoyed the skydive and feel a great sense of pride that we have raised £2,100 to help young people and their families to deal with cancer. We plan to continue raising funds for this amazing charity."
The group were inspired to take on the jump after learning about the charity’s work through a partnership between Signet Jewellers, a group which incorporates Ernest Jones, H Samuel and Leslie Davis stores, and CLIC Sargent.
