A MAIN road has been reopened in York after a major water leak.
Hull Road was closed in both directions at the junctions of Tang Hall Lane and Millfield Lane from Saturday morning because of the burst water main.
Vehicles were directed down Tang Hall Lane and Millfield Lane, which led to heavy traffic on both roads.
Buses were diverted via Field Lane.
Work on repairing the burst water main was completed Saturday afternoon, Yorkshire Water said.
The road reopened on Sunday.
On Saturday, a spokesman for Yorkshire Water said that, following the repair, “The excavation will then be backfilled and the road surface fully reinstated tomorrow [Sunday] with a plan to remove the temporary lights tomorrow night, once the surface has hardened.”
