THE second in a new series of pub church services will be held in York this Sunday.

Holy Trinity Church in Micklegate launched its Pop Church project last month, in the upstairs room of the nearby Brigantes bar.

The second service is at 6pm on Sunday, in the same venue.

Everyone is welcome.

Once again there will be a talk and pop songs instead of hymns, this time including Spirit In The Sky by Norman Greenbaum, Happy by Pharrell Williams, and Greatest Love of All by Gerald Goldstein, Michael Masser and Linda Creed, popularised by Whitney Houston.

Holy Trinity dates back nearly 1,000 years, pre-dating the Norman invasion, and it was listed in the Domesday Book as one of the five great northern churches.

The present church building is all that remains of a much larger complex, most of which was disposed of in the 16th century.
