AROUND 200 people turned out for Tea in the Park in York’s Rowntree Park for The Great Get Together.
Sunday’s event, a bring and share picnic, featured singing in the wood, yoga, games, a bird trail and book crossing.
Musicians turned out to provide entertainment for the picnic in the performance area of the park.
Kate Lock, an organiser, said: “It was a really beautiful and relaxed afternoon. The singing in the wood, led by Jon Hughes, director of the Stonegate Singers Community Choir, was particularly lovely and sounded quite ethereal. Jo Cox’s words are certainly true; we have much more in common than that which divides us and getting together like this shows just what you can do if you reach out to the community and say ‘Come join us’.”
